Culture Classes are held after language classes, from 4:20 pm \u2013 5:00pm. Listed below are offerings by minimum age for participation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Age 4 and older:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u821e\u8e48 Dance<\/strong><br \/>\nNo dancing experience required. Students will explore ballet and contemporary dance and will be expected to participate in extracurricular performances throughout the school year.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u4f5c\u696d\u8f14\u5c0e Homework Club<\/strong><br \/>\nDesigned for students who would like assistance with doing PCLS homework during culture class time.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u5152\u7ae5\u7a4d\u6728 4+ Lego Class<\/strong><br \/>\nStudents are placed into two groups by skill level and age group. Younger\/Beginner students will For younger students ages to build with Duplo and Lego. Older\/Advanced students will create more complex objects.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u5531\u904a Story &amp; Music <\/strong><br \/>\nDesigned for younger students to learn Chinese children&#8217;s folkchildren\u2019skids folk songs and stories with craftwork.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u8dc6\u62f3\u9053 TaekwonDo<\/strong><br \/>\nStudents will learn this Asian martial art characterized by head-height, jumping, spinning and fast kicks. Class will promote courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control and indomitable spirit which are the essences of Taekwondo. Belt testing is also offered by the instructor.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Age 5 and older:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u5152\u7ae5\u756b Painting &amp; Drawing (PD)<\/strong><br \/>\nStudents will be placed into age appropriate groups and learn basic painting and drawing skills.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u4e2d\u570b\u8c61\u68cb Chinese Chess (CS)<\/strong><br \/>\nAll levels welcome. Students are placed into two groups based on skill assessment: beginner group and advanced group. Students play in tournaments to advance their skills and have opportunities to participate in external competitions.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Age 6 and older:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u5152\u7ae5\u73e0\u5fc3\u7b97 Chinese Abacus &amp; Mental Math<\/strong><br \/>\nStudents learn how to use the abacus to perform in mathematical calculations, a tool used for accounting and bookkeeping in China for thousands of years.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u5361\u901a\u756b Children Sketch and Cartoon<\/strong><br \/>\nStudents learn the basic techniques to construct their own cartoon characters through curves and geometric shapes. Basic techniques include, but are not limited to: learn to use basic shapes to draw and analyze figures, style faces and bodies, create dynamic poses and manipulating their characters and draw background for characters.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u53e4\u7b8f GuZheng<\/strong><br \/>\nStudents will learn the basics of the Chinese instrument, Guzheng and will learn to play basic traditional Chinese melody.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Age 7 and older:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u5361\u62c9 OK \u6b4c\u5531 Chinese Karaoke<\/strong><br \/>\nStudents will have fun learning Chinese through singing songs with lyrics on the screen. This class is designed to improve pronunciation and ability to read Chinese characters, explore the diversity of Chinese culture through a variety of songs\/videos, and gain the experience of singing alone in front of an audience and build their confidence in expressing themselves in Chinese.<\/p>\n<p><strong>STEM craft (STEM\u5de5\u85dd\u624b\u4f5c\uff09<\/strong><br \/>\nIn this class, students will explore science and health through fun, hands-on crafts and activities. It\u2019s a creative and engaging way to discover the world of STEM and medicine!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Age 8 and older:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u7c43\u7403 Basketball<\/strong><br \/>\nStudents play and learn basketball skills and are placed into groups based on skill assessment.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u66f8\u6cd5 Calligraphy<\/strong> &#8211; Not offered during the current school year due to low enrollment.<br \/>\nStudents learn Chinese calligraphy.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u4e2d\u570b\u7d50 Chinese Knotting<\/strong><br \/>\nIn this class, students will learn how to create a variety of projects using different Chinese knots. The projects range from simple bracelets to large, intricate swans, but no matter the size, our students\u2019 creations are always made from string. Chinese knotting will teach children hand-eye coordination, patience, and creativity. They will make projects that can be used as decorations, gifts, and even adornments on clothes. Students will be placed into groups based on skill assessment.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u570b\u756b Chinese Brush Painting (CP)<\/strong><br \/>\nBeginner level Chinese brush painting class for students to learn the basic techniques (brush holding, brush strokes and ink application etc.). Different subjects will be introduced to students each year such as flowers, insects, animals, and simple landscaping. Students will participate in a gallery show of their paintings at the end of the year.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u9ebb\u5c07 Mahjong<\/strong><br \/>\nStudents will learn how to play one of the most popular games of Chinese heritage, Mahjong.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Age 9 and older:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u624b\u5de5 Handmade Crafts<\/strong><br \/>\nStudents will learn a variety of more different handmade crafts. Current school year focuses on handmade unique cards for holidays and occasions throughout the year.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u626f\u9234 Chinese Yo-Yo<\/strong><br \/>\nNo experience required. Students will need to have own yoyo and will be placed into groups based on skill assessment. Higher-level students will be expected to participate in extracurricular performances and external competitions throughout the school year.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u4e8c\u80e1 Er-Hu<\/strong><br \/>\nAges 10+.
