Dear Parents\/Guardians\/Teachers\/TAs:\n<\/div>\n
As the COVID-19 situation continues to unfold, information\u00a0is changing faster than we can disseminate it.\u00a0 PCLS has worked closely with PDS, ANJCS, and New York TECO office.\u00a0 We want to make sure that our community members’ health and safety are our top priority.\u00a0 \u00a0As a result, I am announcing that\u00a0PCLS will\u00a0NOT have school at PDS facilities<\/b>\u00a0for the following FIVE Sundays (3\/15, 3\/22, 3\/29, 4\/5, and 4\/12)<\/b>.\u00a0 Around 4\/15, we will reassess the situation and update the plans for the remaining school days (4\/19 to 5\/31).<\/div>\n
\nI understand that people may have different views about how to respond to the risks and uncertainties from\u00a0COVID-19, but I would appreciate if you can join in supporting the actions that PCLS have taken and will implement in the future.<\/p>\n

As you can imagine, all our language teachers and volunteer staff have been busy communicating and working on reasonable plans for our PCLS community.\u00a0\u00a0PCLS has always been a community that cares for one another, and\u00a0we will need that spirit now more than ever.<\/b><\/div>\n

Please see the following for the changes confirmed as of today:<\/div>\n
\n(1)\u00a0NO Culture class and NO adult class 3\/15 – 4\/12<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n
(2)\u00a03\/15 OFF for STUDENTS<\/span><\/b>\u00a0– for Admins and Language teachers to take training, test and discuss about online teaching\/contingency plans.<\/p>\n

(3)\u00a0Prospective online Language class starting on 3\/22 or 3\/29\u00a0<\/span><\/b>– We’ll see if distance learning will be ready starting on 3\/22 or 3\/29.\u00a0 We’re evaluating the pros and cons of these two virtual apps:\u00a0Zoom<\/u>\u00a0and\u00a0Google Meet<\/u>.\u00a0\u00a0I will send out newsletter by next Friday (3\/20) for the Online teaching updates.<\/b><\/p>\n

(4)\u00a04\/5 TOCFL test\u00a0<\/span><\/b>– postponed.<\/p>\n

(5)\u00a0ANJCS contests\u00a0<\/span><\/b>– All\u00a05 contests (Karaoke, Speech, YoYo, Chess, and Calligraphy Contests)\u00a0<\/span>are suspended. ANJCS will\u00a0plan to reschedule these 5 contests after summer and might hold all 5 contests within one weekend at one location.\u00a0 Please stay tuned.<\/span><\/div>\n

(6)\u00a0PCLS summer camp\u00a0<\/span><\/b>– cancelled.<\/p>\n

(7)\u00a0PCLS 5\/17 Fun Day<\/span><\/b>\u00a0– cancelled.<\/p>\n

(8)\u00a0Passport to Taiwan at Union Square on 5\/24\u00a0<\/span><\/b>– cancelled.<\/p>\n

Online teaching will be implemented for 4 to 10 weeks in PCLS.\u00a0 Please be considerate that our academic director and language teachers will need to work extra hours for the online teaching plan.\u00a0 (\u4e3b\u4efb\u548c\u8001\u5e2b\u5011\u8f9b\u82e6\u4e86\uff0c\u8b1d\u8b1d\u4f60\u5011\uff01\"\u2764\")\u00a0 \u00a0 While the school is committed to your health, we must rely on the active support and participation of all members of our community in this endeavor. I know I can count on yours.<\/div>\n
