IMPORTANT Back to school info: Revised School Calendar, COVID-19 protocol, Parent Duty Sign Up, Online interest form

Great News!  PCLS has been selected by Overseas Community Affairs Council in Taiwan in June 2021 to establish a Taiwan Mandarin Learning Center 臺灣華語文學習中心to assist the implementation of the Taiwan-US Education Initiative, emphasizing Taiwan’s important role in providing Mandarin learning opportunities for students in the US and other countries.

Currently, there are two centers in New Jersey: PCLS and the Murray Hill School in Warren. For a listing of centers, please visit this link in Chinese or English  PCLS will be enrolling adults 18 and older to join our Mandarin class for this initiative. Anyone who’s interested in the adult class, please email me. Class will run during the regular PCLS class time.

First day back in person at PDS is October 10. PDS have accepted our COVID protocol. Here’s the current plan:

  • By Saturday, 9/11 – textbookswill be distributed through class parents, teachers and specific admin staff. Be on the lookout for an email to pick up the textbook packets.
  • September 12, 19, 26 and October 3: All language and culture classes will be conducted virtually

Some parents have expressed interests in having their children continue virtually instead of coming back to PDS. We would like to assess the feasibility and interest in online language class and may offer classes online for specific groups if we have enough interest. If interest, please fill out this online Google Form so we can assess the situation and the need to add online classes.

We have also made modifications to Parent Duty Sign Ups. In most instances, if there’s no change in the sign up dates, duties and number of sign ups, we did not change the sign up (e.g., class parents). But some have been deleted. You may receive a notification about cancellations in the sign ups. Please double check on the SIGNUP Genius here

Finally, if you have not registered your child(ren), please do so as soon as possible. Our academic director will be ordering text books on Wednesday, 8/18. You may need to order your own textbooks/homework packets if we don’t have your registration in time and we run out of textbooks.
