PCLS Newsletter 12/16 – Last Class of 2018

Dear Parents/Guardians/Teachers:

Please note that this Sunday, 12/16 will be the last PCLS class of 2018.  We will not have class on 12/23 and 12/30, so we will resume classes on 1/6/2019.

Once we return in January, we will just have 4 weeks to rehearse for our Chinese New Year Celebration which is 2/3/2019 at Montgomery High School.  More details (the show, raffle ticket sales and prize, the dinner after the show, etc) will be announced in my newsletter in January.

We would greatly appreciate donations (value of $20 and above) of Raffle Prizes for the raffle during our New year’s festivities.  All the donations go to our raffle which helps as a fundraiser for the school. Please drop off the items to Sylvia or Sophia in the cafeteria until 1/13/2019.  We will also provide donation receipt for your tax filing purpose.

Pre-own Yo-yo for Sale this Sunday:
We acquired some pre-owned Sundia yo-yo and will offer PCLS students to purchase at administration table in the cafeteria this Sunday 2:40 ~ 4:50 with Sophia.

These diabolos were originally brought from Taiwan and only used a few times at Chinese summer camp in Michigan.  They are the same kind as we use at PCLS yo-yo class. It’s made by soft plastic and comes with wooden sticks.

Each set (1 yo-yo, 1 pair of sticks with string) is sold for $12. (Brand new $30)  This is a great opportunity for children interested in Chinese yo-yo class next school year, or the current students need extra yo-yo with lower price.  Limited quantities. No reservation available. First come first serve. Cash only.

Seminar this Sunday:
The seminar ” Screens are hurting children’s eyesight – How to Preserve Your Child’s Vision” will take place at Room 231 (3:00-4:15) this Sunday. These days there are more electronic screens in front of our children than ever before.  The workshop will be given by optometrists and authors Dr. Ivan Lee and Dr. Noah Tannen.  Learn the visual, and perhaps emotional, side effects of excessive electronic use and what to do about it.  The first 10 parents to attend the workshop will receive a copy of their latest book: A Parent’s Guide to Raising Children with Healthy Vision
