Message from Principal

Fun Day – CANCELED

Unfortunately, in the Fun Day participation survey that was released 3 weeks ago, we didn’t get responses from over 50 families who expressed interest in attending, so Fun Day will be canceled this year.

 

Those of you who signed up to perform parent duty on that day, please keep an eye out for email from the PCLS admin team on other alternatives.

 

PCLS YoYo Contest

The contest will take place on this Sunday 5/5/2024 during culture class time in the lower gym.  Parents and students are welcome to watch the performances starting at 4:20 pm. However, please notify the culture teacher if you are not a current yoyo class student and make sure the parents are aware of where you are.

 

Basketball class will take place in the Upper gym this week.

SY24-25 Registration Begins Next Week

Registration for SY24-25 school year begins next week!! You’ll get a $50 early bird registration discount if you register between now and the last day of school, 6/9.  Please stay tuned for more details in next week’s newsletter.

 

Year-end Parent Meeting

We’ll have our year-end meeting with parents in the cafeteria at 3:00 PM on 5/12/24.  Please join the PCLS team for a report on this school year and planning for next year!

FASCA Training Registration is now open (For 14 yo+)

2024年僑務委員會「海外青年文化大使(FASCA)新生培訓」將於北美及亞太地區共12個城市展開培訓活動，報名於即日起正式開跑。紐澤西場次：8月2日至8月4日在 Best Western Rutgers University Hotel(195 NJ-18, East Brunswick, NJ 08816)、紐約場次：8月6日至8月8日在紐約僑教中心(133-32 41st Rd, Flushing, NY 11355)辦理，名額有限，歡迎14至17歲的台裔青少年踴躍報名參加。For more information and to register, please see here.

2024 Nostalgia for Taiwan: Short-term In-school Program for Overseas Compatriot Children and Adolescents 113學年度戀念臺灣-海外僑民兒童或少年至校短期體驗計畫

This Short-Term In-School Program aims to provide peace of mind for overseas Taiwanese parents who are briefly visiting Taiwan with their children aged 6-15. By enrolling in local schools, young participants can gain firsthand experience in appreciating Taiwan’s culture, customs, and society. Studying alongside Taiwanese peers facilitates a deeper understanding of and appreciation for Taiwan. The program offers overseas children and teens the chance to connect with their Taiwanese heritage through immersive learning, cultural exchange, and friendship. Our goal is for them to return home with cherished memories and a deeper affinity for Taiwan. Please see this folder for more information.

PTA Update

To ensure that all events and activities run smoothly throughout the year, please sign up for at least 2 parent duties. Only if the 2 duties are fulfilled, will the deposit be refunded. If you are able to spare more time to our community, we would be very thankful. There are still a few open slots left to sign up!

Any questions about your parent duties you can’t find on Sign Up Genius , please reach out to Suet Horhota, PCLS PTA Lead, while at school or at PTA@pcls.org.
